President Hon.
Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete at the Official Handing-over ceremony of
the school on October 12, 2009
Oswald
Mang’ombe Secondary School offers modern higher
education for Form 4 graduates of other Secondary Schools in
Musoma Rural. The construction of the school was started two
years ago and so far the 12 classrooms, which are already fully
furnished, the administration buildings and the function hall
are completed. The work on the laboratory building for sciences
like chemistry or physics was also completed shortly after with
the interior works currently in process. The
furniture and equipment complies with the latest international standards.
The
dormitories offer spacious rooms to the now 214 students.
Attached to them, there are modern bathroom facilities on a
secured compound. Some of the teachers' quarters are within the
dormitory block as well to supervise the students.
The
school's water supply is provided through the collection of rain
water. Therefore
15 tanks have been build which enable the
administration to not only supply the school with enough water
to cater its needs but also to
support the villagers living around the school. Further,
in the course of rural electrification, the school was the means
for TANESCO to connect several villages and Oswald Mang'ombe
High School to the power line on the main road, roughly 7 kms
away. As a back-up system, solar power has been used in 4
classrooms to make it possible for students to study after dark
in case of a power-cut.
