Butuguri
Secondary School opened its doors on 26th June 2006 to 57 Form 1 students. Among the students
were currently 44 boys and 13
girls. In January 2007 an additional 143 students came to
Butuguri Secondary School to represent the new Form 1. The school is run as a day school and is the only
secondary school in the ward. 6 teachers and two volunteers sent
by the Tanzanian government are teaching in 4 classrooms.

The
Butuguri Secondary School is a community school and was build
and maintained by the people living around. Hon. Nimrod E. Mkono
donated construction materials and furniture for the fully
equipped classrooms. Although it is a day school, it is planned
to start a field work program to meet the schools need to
provide the students with lunch. This way the students will get
familiar with the requirements of agriculture and a sense of
achieving independence by growing things to support themselves.
