Busegwe Primary school opened in May 2005 and has currently 498 students, 243 boys and 255 girls. Students come from the near villages and usually have to walk to school for up to 2 kilometers. 11 teachers are heading the school and 8 fully furnished classrooms are available for the students.
It is run as a day school but it has a farming project which grows casava and sweet potatoes to ensure that the students are supplied with a healthy an d nutritious breakfast every day.
With the beginning of 2006 Samuel Nyerembe, the new head teacher, was hired to improve the quality of education. He is currently looking for new teachers and tries to establish a system of bonusses for dedicated teachers and special efforts of the staff. His prediction is that the quality of the teaching staff will be increased dramatically by the end of the next school year. He foresees that three quarters of the graduates of Standard 7 will pass the examinations for being accepted at a Secondary School.
