Buko Secondary School

Buko Secondary School is a government school in the Kiagata ward, Musoma Rural District, in Mara Region. So far, it consisted of only classrooms, which the teachers had to use as their staff rooms as well. On 1st of May, Hon. Mkono was present to officially open the new administration building, complete with a furnished headmaster's office and two computers, which he had donated to the school. Also in attendance was the District Commissioner and Hon. Gaudentia Kabaka, Deputy Minister for Education and Vocational Training.

Another challenge that the school had to master was the lack of water. Therefore, Hon. Mkono had a borehole drilled in the immediate vicinity of the school and a hand pump installed that guaranteed easy and maintenance-free access to a reliable water source. The villagers around were equally thrilled, because they will also benefit from the new convenient well.

The pictures below show Hon. Mkono and the District Commissioner for Musoma Rural while doing the first pump test and the first woman from the village close-by, who could take a bucket of water home.

The following celebrations were attended by many villagers and some of the region's honoraries. Among them Hon. Gaudentia Kabaka, Deputy Minister for Education and Vocational Training, and a vital supporter for the raise of quality education in rural areas.
